For many years my wife has been collecting flower bouquets she received as a gift from me on birthdays and wedding anniversaries. To extend the enjoyment and beauty of the flowers, she dries them and uses them to decorate our walls. I had the idea of taking photographs of those arrangements, but even touching the delicate and fragile objects nearly destroyed them, and leaves and blooms crumbled. To show the fragility of those objects I put them on a flatbed scanner, let the lid open and darkened the room. I would not have been able to produce the same result with a conventional camera.
